Healthy lifestyle choices. Feeling low can often be defeated with better lifestyle choices. Start with physical health and wellness – adequate water intake, eating nutritious foods, proper rest and relaxation. If you treat your body well, your emotional and mental health will follow.
Exercise. A healthy exercise routine will get your blood pumping, which releases endorphins that naturally make you feel good.
Make contact. Surround yourself with a supportive and loving group of friends and family. People who accept you for who you are and who are there for you when you need them most. Try to eliminate toxic and negative people and circumstances that bring you down. Also, look to establish new contacts with people that have similar interests. You never know where your next friend might come from.
Seek professional help. If you’re experiencing something more than feeling low, you may be exhibiting symptoms of depression. Schedule a visit with a mental health professional, like a licensed therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist, and/or other health and wellness practitioner, and talk about what you’re going through. Sometimes medication can make a difference. Sometimes holistic remedies do the trick. Research what may work best for you, and don’t give up!
